Lev — Marketplace

Duration: 6 months

Tools: Figma | Jira | Mixpanel

Context

The goal of this redesign was to replace discount codes with a rewards currency, known as ‘bones’ that Lev members can apply toward their total purchase. To prevent losses, we dynamically adjust the bones-to-currency exchange rate based on user data, ensuring redemptions don’t exceed our commission earnings from marketplace stores.

Challenge

Lev’s previous marketplace was not generating the growth it was looking for - discount codes were becoming less effective as marketplace stores competed to offer the best deals. They were also restrictive—single-use and requiring reactivation—limiting user benefits.

User Research: Key Takeaways

Previous Design: Discount Codes

Marketplace Design Incentive

While we saw an increase in bone collection, we noticed only 62% of collected bones were being used towards the marketplace. To encourage more offer redemption we designed more compelling offers for our users.

Designing With Constraints

There were various states that needed to be designed in the case that users did not want to redeem their rewards.

Did we want to provide a limit on the number of bones users could redeem? If so, will this be user-friendly?

What’s Next?

Lev's new marketplace is set to launch in Q3 of 2025.
