Lev — Social Feed
Duration: 2 months
Tools: Figma | Jira | Mixpanel
Context
Lev is an app designed to help dog owners discover new pet friendly locations, connect with other dog owners, and earn rewards. To foster community engagement, we’re introducing features that allow users to share walks, photos, and experiences in a social feed.
Challenge
Dog owners are looking for a community-driven platform to connect with others, share updates on their walks, and post photos of their dogs to the Lev feed.
Why Lev Feed?
Lev’s ethos is to cultivate an engaging and interactive space for dog owners to encourage new adventures with their dogs. After launching Lev’s rebranded app, we saw a significant boost in user activity, with daily sign-ons increasing by over 200%.
This increase in engagement revealed an opportunity to drive even greater growth.
Our Approach
By exploring various platforms for dog owners with social feed functionality, as well as those offering route tracking and publishing features, we identified key elements that contributed to the success of these apps and brainstormed ways to prioritize our users while integrating a fun bone-collection feature to keep them engaged.
Research Takeaways
We identified several key features to enhance user experience, including feed visibility options, the ability to attach milestones to posts, and in-feed touchpoints for friend requests and marketplace reminders/ads.
Given Lev's focus on rewarding dog owners with 'bones' currency, we prioritized features that maximize bone rewards in exchange for user actions, such as collecting bones, posting to the feed, referring friends, and more.
User Research: Key Takeaways
Design Process
To highlight the new feed feature and ensure it could scale effectively, we dedicated the ‘Home’ tab to showcase the feed. This allowed for the design to take form without the limitations of existing features. Starting with the feed layout, we leveraged our core design elements to start building the foundation of the new design.

Sharing Walk Highlights
Posting accomplishments like walk distances or unique locations can motivate others to stay active and engaged by turning routine walks into fun, shareable milestones.
Interacting With Posts
Social features, like posting, keep users coming back to the app. Interacting with each other’s posts sparks a recurring loop of content sharing and engagement, fueling long-term user activity.
Results
Following the launch of Lev Feed in October 2024, we observed a 20% increase in daily dog walking, along with continued growth in daily posts.
Next Steps
Introduce more milestones for users to achieve together and share with friends. For example, a walking challenge could motivate users to complete a set number of walks that can be shared in the feed with other users.
